About a month ago or so, I managed to sprain my wrist. The injury severely disabled my ability to do much of anything in a creative sense. So needless to say, it’s the main factor in my sudden mum, and the complete lack of the output anywhere else. Truthfully it came at a perfect time, as I had few only a few responsibilities and agreements, so a forced holiday really didn’t turn out to be that bad. Actually one could say it came at the perfect time– Ya know if there is ever a good time to have a disabling injury.
Of course, its never easy to go cold turkey on any habit. And after the initial excitement of ‘HAVING NOTHING TO DO’ it began to set in, it was apparent I did have a lot to do, and my hands were shaking with the need. I just couldn’t do it. So obviously my mind pinned into over drive. I found myself coming up with tons of new ideas and dreaming about my abandoned projects (both personal projects and those work for hire ones)… and I all I’ve wanted to do for the last few weeks is to be back at my keyboard. Thus despite the pain, after sitting and typing for about thirty minutes– I’m back to writing on an almost daily period again. Even if its for small bits of time. Which I suppose my doctor would not like hearing about. Unfortunately I can’t really draw yet. Hopefully it won’t be too long, because I really want to draw– even more than writing and we all know how much I love writing.
Its been quite hectic here for the last few months. As some of you (I hope) are aware there’s been a few new short stories published, since the last I updated—and I’ve been hard at work on a few other projects, some I hope will see the light of day soon. Others well, we’ll see how these things happen. But its been a while… and I miss the open page. So what you may ask, has been up?
Probably the larger and most notable release was Six-Guns and Spaceships an Anthology featuring Phil Athens, Joel Jenkins and myself mixing westerns with Science fiction to wonderous results. I have talked a little about my story a little bit before. “A train heist in Hyperspace” tells the story of a crew of outlaws trying to pull off one of the greatest Astro-train heists in the galaxy, before everything goes wrong. It mixes the sensibilities of the classic western train heist, with science fiction galactic swashbuckling—with a bit of anime/manga style action. I am quite happy with how the story came out with the help of the wonderful Morgan Minor who was the editor on my story. I do hope this isn’t the last you see of the outlaw group the warp-4 and all the supporting characters who came along for the ride. It’s a lot of fun, and I hope you decide to check it out.
There hasn’t been a lot of activity here in the last few weeks, but it comes with good reason. I suppose when its quiet here, that usually means I’m busy elsewhere, which is completely the case the last few weeks. There’s a few bits of “to do” things that have been in my way, at such a rate I haven’t been able to clear off enough to really sit down and put something together for the Colony. Course it’s not just the colony… that’s been on hold. It’s a deadline season, as a lot of you if you come around these parts often are pretty use to. When work builds up… well paid work gets priority.
That’s not to say I don’t miss this little space. I am eager to get back to editing out the rest of Truth and Consequences so I can start writing new bits of it, which will be coming, before the end of the month I think. I’m also behind on new reviews that have been building up, and I’m emendated with tons of topics I want to write articles about. So this “other work” can’t end soon enough! Continue reading
As you may have heard, my old site had a bit of a server crash. So instead of trying to deal with that fall out, on the free server I was at I went and properly created phact0rri.com to make myself official in the web services type of sense. So that is why you’re looking at a new URL with a new blog site that looks different and seems a little void of content at the moment. It is a work in progress, so I’m sure there will be a lot of changes coming down the pipeline both for the website proper, and with The Colony.
At the moment the site pages haven’t changed at all. Writer.phact0rri.com is still really the only active hub page on the site, with little changes. It was my starting point as far as designing these ‘info-portfolio’ sort of pages so to speak. And I’ll be adding more, as time allows. If you’ve never been to that page, clicking on’ website’ will get you there. There are some dead links and a few areas I plan to fix before I embark on the next of these. You have been warned.
